Brian K. & The Parkway "Wind The Clock" album art “Wind The Clock” is our mutual introduction into the nine-song collection offered by Pagels and Russ whose respective homes in Alexandria and Arlington are connected by the iconic George Washington Memorial Parkway. Russ is from the Carolinas originally, and Pagels shares his hometown of Freehold, NJ with The Boss himself, Bruce Springsteen.

Killing The Bear is a nod to the ’70s rock sound of artists like Springsteen, as well as Tom Petty, and Warren Zevon. Brian K & The Parkway’s new single really highlights this focus on songwriting and storytelling while embracing an energetic and uplifting musicality that is guitar driven, rooted in rock and roll, and infuses elements of soul and R&B. The added infusion of piano, organ, and even some horns help further establish Brian K & The Parkway among the iconic composers that influenced their sound.

The band goes on to say, “Killing The Bear‘s overarching theme is about our ever-increasing inability as humans to deal with the source of our problems and instead, look to surface-level, near-term solutions, and then declare immediate victory. The songs serve as vignettes about the things we do to cope, for better or worse.”
