Shelly Star and the Galaxy Journey to Jammin Java

Shelley Star and the Galaxy celebrate the release of their forthcoming album with a special performance alongside BUKO BUKO and Ari Voxx at Jammin Java on February 4.

This won’t be the band’s first time appearing on the Jammin Java stage, however; they were awarded second place in Band Battle #25 at the Vienna, VA venue. Since their inception in 2020, Shelly Star and the Galaxy have released two Wammie Award-nominated singles, participated in the first inaugural Fairfax Pride celebration at Old Town Hall, and, most recently, opened for NOLA funk band “Flow Tribe” at Pearl St. Warehouse in Washington DC.

“Asteroid Belt” is the latest interplanetary dance-pop single, released in November of 2023 by Shelley and her bandmates from Planet Glam. The track highlights musical influences which include Lady Gaga, The Killers, and ABBA. The layers build quickly, and the song is almost immediately in the pocket while maintaining its dynamics and also unveiling some new sonic elements along the way.

Attendees of the Feb 4 album release party are invited to join performers in wearing space-themed cosplay, uniting Shelly’s multidisciplinary talents of song, dance, and theatrics. While it’s unclear if “happy punk” band BUKO BUKO and DC’s Dreamy Pop Princess, Ari Voxx, will be adorned with the finest space age finery, it seems a likely scenario!Tickets are available on the Jammin Java website, but if you’re arriving by rocket ship you may wanna ask about parking.
